As public healthcare systems face challenges due to an aging population, rising chronic conditions, and soaring healthcare costs, private insurers must adapt and innovate to bridge the gap. However, the current system is hindered by high entry barriers, friction, and a lack of transparency. hi.health aims to revolutionize the industry by streamlining access to healthcare, eliminating bureaucratic obstacles in private health insurance, and seamlessly integrating insurance and secure payment methods.
Founded in August 2019 by Fredrik Debong (co-founder of mySugr.com and Pioneers.io) and Sebastian Gruber (formerly of McKinsey), hi.health introduced the first version of their app in Germany in October 2019. With plans to expand into other European markets, the company recently raised six million euros in a pre-Series-A funding round in January. Currently, hi.health employs 17 people and maintains offices in Vienna and Berlin.

Sebastian is the Co-Founder & CEO of hi.health. His mission is to make healthcare accessible for everyone as governments will face more challenges in maintaining the current level of healthcare service in the future. Sebastian previously worked at McKinsey & Company and holds a Ph.D. in game theory.
The Founder & Investor Talks, organized by the Innovation Incubation Center (i²c) at TU Wien, enable the audience to learn firsthand from experienced founders, investors and innovators, and get inspired by their success (and failure) stories. Our guest speakers share their international experiences, dos & don’ts and lessons learned during an inspiring talk. Afterwards, the participants can ask all the burning questions during an interactive Q&A.
