About the
event series
The quantum innovation lab (Qilab) is a program designed for scientists who want to investigate the commercial potential of their research. Participants will learn from industry leaders, identify their technology's potential, and explore funding opportunities to turn ideas into viable commercial projects, such as startups.
The Qilab is organised by the University of Vienna together with TU Wien and multiple leading research institutions and with the support of incubators and venture funds. This unique mix of stakeholders lays sound foundations to provide participants with tools and methods to identify, evaluate, and realise business ideas based on quantum technologies.
Who should apply
We invite motivated Master’s students, PhD candidates, postdocs, and PIs working in quantum science to apply. Researchers from related fields such as engineering or computer science are also welcome if their idea has a connection to quantum technologies.

What to expect
The Qilab includes a one-week bootcamp in Bad Ischl, a beautiful location far from the labs to reduce distractions for participants and increase creativity and engagement.
The programme covers key aspects of turning quantum research into market-ready technologies, including technology identification, market analysis, exploring funding opportunities and pitch training. Three weeks after the bootcamp, the programme culminates in a Demo Day, where selected teams pitch their projects.
Eligibility and Cost
The program is free of charge for the three selected TU Wien researchers.
