Scaling a company from Austria is not easy. Finding product market fit, attracting VC funding, entering different markets like the US, APAC, LATAM etc. needs some special tactics. In his talk, Christopher Müller will describe how the Bitmovin team found its bridgehead into the market and what mistakes they made. He will give insights into their start as a research project at the university in Carinthia, how they raised millions of dollars in the US and established Bitmovin as a successful company in Silicon Valley with currently more than 65 employees worldwide and offices in San Francisco, New York, Vienna, Berlin and Klagenfurt.

Christopher Mueller is the CTO and Co-Founder of Bitmovin, a multimedia technology company providing adaptive streaming infrastructure for video publishers and integrators. He leads Bitmovin’s long-term technology vision and is responsible for overseeing product development, industry thought leadership and advanced technology incubations. Christopher published more than 40 research papers in the areas of multimedia streaming, networking and multimedia adaptation and currently holds several U.S. patents. He co-created the MPEG-DASH video streaming standard which is used by Netflix and Youtube. MPEG-DASH alone accounts for 50% of the total internet traffic in North America at peak times. Christopher is the author of the MPEG-DASH reference software libdash and a contributor to multiple open source projects.
