Originating as the “art of generals” strategic planning has become an important tool for managing complex activities and organizations. Research is no exception. Indeed, clear strategies are often demanded from scientific organizations for purposes of planning, impact maximization, or communication. This seminar aims to equip participants with the basic tools to devise useful strategies. It will focus on strategies for research and include common pitfalls that should be avoided in strategic thinking.
Erich Prem is director of eutema, a strategy consulting company focusing on strategies for research, technology, and innovation. Erich helped to design numerous strategies for ministries including in the areas of technology, defence, and innovation. He has helped universities and research institutes in preparing, improving, realizing, and evaluating strategic plans. With more than two decades of experience in this field, Erich is also aware of the challenges and pitfalls of strategic planning, especially for researchers.
